What is Ouranographia?
ouranos (sky) + graphia (writing)
Coming from the Greek words meaning the “writing of the sky” or the “writing of the heavens”, uranography is the branch of astronomy concerned with the description and mapping the stars, planets, galaxies, constellations etc.

Although this concept is celestial, it can be applied to the personal human journey as well as to an organization’s journey, enabling us to be aware of our contexts and everchanging environmental factors, and our unique positioning and range of assets -and what that means in relation to where we are and where we want to be in the bigger picture. The Ouranographia in itself a tool for creative strategy, which involves learning to see, be and think in ways that are adaptable, pivot-friendly, and embracing of the unknown or unexpected.
The 5WO Timeline
In life, there are different layers of being, thinking and doing. The 5WO builds upon four: Spirit (Why), Vision (Where), Strategy (How), and Execution (What). These layers are not hierarchical, as to say one is more important or valuable than another, but each of these layers have some kind of interdependence on each other- you can do nothing substantial, sustainable and impactful without any one of them.
SESSION 0
Initial/Overview
Go you! You took a big step for yourself/your organization and I want to hear your story. This is where I will learn about your initial goals, challenges, your perceptions of yourself/your org, and what you hope to get out of these next 5 weeks. (Think of this as the tone-setter for our relationship and journey forward, like a first date but way less awkward!)
SESSION 1
Spirit (Why)
What are the core senses, beliefs, revelations, and guideposts that are underlying the how-where-what of your or the org’s existence? We’re going to dive into the micro, macro, and meta forces that are driving the things you’re doing and aspiring for.
SESSION 2
Vision (Where)
Once we have gained deeper insights into the drivers and values guiding your organization, we can look at where you see it going- not only how you envision it to look in future but how the future looks different because of your organization operating in its ‘why’.
SESSION 3
Strategy (How) - Part 1
With a clearer sense of why and where, we can dive into how. This involves understanding the environments and contexts in which you’re existing, operating, and envisioning in, which will help us more strategically and creativity get from here to wherever “there” is.
SESSION 4
Strategy (How) - Part 2
In this session, we’ll work on assessing what and who you have, and what and who you need in making progress toward the vision you laid out previously. We will be taking inventory of those networks, resources, opportunities, and assets and their proximity and accessibility to you from where you are right now.
SESSION 5
Intro to Execution (What) & Conclusion
It’s time to get some ish DONE! It’s great to have skills, knowledge, tools, and people, but it’s important to start activating them and creating tangibles and tactical goals for progress. We will also talk about personalized recommendations for your next steps and how our relationship can continue beyond the 5WO!
